The major purpose of this course is to form a solid base for those students planning
to continue with a science-based area in the university. The main topics to be
covered are Force and motion including vectors, Newton’s laws of motion, motion
in one dimension, energy, impulse and momentum, torque and equilibrium;
electricity and magnetism including electrical force, electric fields, magnetism
and induction, alternating current. Although conceptual understanding will be an
essential focus of teaching, emphasis will be given to problem-solving. Therefore, a
good base of level 10 mathematics is expected.
We are all forced to interact with the physical world around us daily. When we not only observe, but also understand the rules of nature that govern our physical world we are more fulfilled and well-rounded individuals.
